CRACKING THE COMMUNICATION CODE: Mastering Impactful Dialogue

Writer's picture: All In AdvisoryAll In Advisory

Hi there, it's Aly Garrett here and it's time for another round of my sharing and caring! In my daily endeavours, I adhere to the 5 'C' principles. Following the footsteps of the CC chips slogan – 'Can't Say No!' – I'm bringing you the next star of the show: 🌟 'Communication.' 🌟

"For effective communication, it's crucial to have the right tools. Personally, I love my sledgehammer. It shortens annoying conversations immensely." NOT!😂

Did you know lobsters communicate unconventionally? through, um, pee! (We know you will never look at a lobster the same😂). And NO, we are not advocating for this type of communication.

I think we should stick to the rules below, so let's dive into the second 'C' and decode impactful dialogue!

📢 Communicate, Communicate, Communicate: In business, communication equals success. Sometimes we may need to feel like we are overcommuncating so our message can be heard. Did you know you need to repeat a message 3 times for it to be truly heard, others swear by the “Rule of 7.” Microsoft's study suggests between 6 & 20 exposures for optimal impact. Wowee, that's alot right???

📢Positivity on Board: In this landscape, negativity is counterproductive. Be the champion of optimism, navigating communication challenges with positivity.

📢Timing is Everything: Just like catching the perfect moment, timing in communication is crucial. Ride it right, and you'll be the champion of effective dialogue.

📢Silence Speaks Volumes: Silence can convey meaning. Pay attention to non-verbal cues and let your body language be a supportive element.

📢Break Down Walls: Dismantle walls in communication, create a safe space for open dialogue.

Some additional Tips for Top-Notch Communication:

⚠️Read the Room, Know Your Audience: Tailor your style to fit the context.

⚠️Ask Questions and Actively Listen: Engage, ask relevant questions, foster a two-way conversation. To ensure clarity, actively inquire, "What did you hear?"

⚠️Be Focused and Clear: Avoid unnecessary details, deliver a clear message.

⚠️Call Out the Elephant in the Room: Address challenging issues, have the courage to say the hard things.

⚠️Be Honest: Foster a culture of honesty and transparency.

⚠️Reply (don’t ghost), Summarize Like a Maestro: Acknowledge, respond, and summarize for harmony.

"Communication is a skill that you can learn. It's like riding a bicycle or typing. If you're willing to work at it, you can rapidly improve the quality of every part of your life.” — Brian Tracy.

So speak on, savvy communicators, to ensure your messages shine as brightly as the sun on a scorching 40-degree day! ☀️😅
